Septal defect (ASD) repair
* The atrial septum is the wall that the right and left atrium (upper chamber separated) of the heart. There is a natural opening, before birth, which in general, if the baby is born. When the lid is closed, the child is ASD.
* Sometimes ASD are to be closed without open heart surgery. First, the surgeon makes a small incision in the groin. The surgeon then inserts the tube into a blood vessel to the heart. The following devices, 2 small roof-shape "are shell" on the left and right side of the partition. These 2 devices are connected. This closes the hole in the heart. Not all centers perform this procedure.
* Open-heart surgery can be done to repair the ASD. Use of open-heart surgery, the septum can be closed with stitches or sutures. Another way is to the wall with a patch of membrane or plastic covered.

(VSD) repair
* The ventricular septum is the wall between the left and right ventricles (lower chambers) of theHeart. A hole in the septum as a VSD.
* At the age of 8 years be used for most children with this problem, VSD frequently close to themselves and not surgery. It depends on where the hole.
CIV * Large, small parts of the septum or those that cause heart failure or endocarditis (inflammation) require open-heart surgery. We must also cover a synthetic patch over the hole space to it.
* Some anomalies of the septum may be closed, with cardiac catheterization (past a fine tube) into the heart.
